Cutting
Registered master media, the profiles it is cut under, and the batches that cut it. One finished episode in, Parts out — the master’s own picture and its own soundtrack.
Registering a file is not a claim that it can be used.
The control plane never opens media. A source stays pending until a
renderer measures it — probes it, tries to decode both ends of it and
hashes it — and only then does it read ready. A file that
will not decode says so here, in the decoder’s own words, rather than
failing on job eleven of sixteen at three in the morning.

Check before you spend.
Check resolves the selection, applies the profile and shows every
setting that would be in force — and writes nothing. It is the
answer to “will this run” for free.
Editing profiles
A profile is a version, never an edit.
Saving always writes a new version, because finished films point at the
version they were made under. Retiring one keeps the row; there is no
delete.
